Great Tower Estate offers opportunities for a variety of
groups such as D of E Award, Youth Organisations, School groups, industry
training schemes (management and developmental), and Special needs groups.
Great Tower is on the east side of Lake Windermere, midway between Bowness
and Newby Bridge, 250 acres of heavily wooded and rocky terrain offers many
varied campsites ranging from large areas close to camp centre facilities
for younger and less experienced groups, to Isolated woodland clearings to
test the skills of more experienced campers.
A number of buildings are also available for those requiring indoor
residential accommodation, 2 x 6 bed building and 1 x 27 bed building..
On site facilities include 3 toilet blocks (with Hot water provided, hot and
cold showers in main shower block), small shop, drying machines, and full
site staff. On site activities include orienteering, pioneering, forestry,
dry-stone walling, abseiling, rock climbing and fell-craft, with sailing,
canoeing, sail-boarding at our nearby water
activities centre, whilst off site the variety available widens to
include pony trekking, hill and fell walking. An Ideal site for day visits
i.e. field studies, orienteering, or any of the many other activities for
which the site us suitable.

There is a wealth of wildlife on Great Tower which includes two herds of
deer (one Red, one Roe), red squirrels, badgers, many varieties of birds,
insects and, in undisturbed areas, many species of plants and flowers
