AIMS OF WORK WITH YOUNG PEOPLE

The aim of the Salford Diocesan Youth Commission is to promote, develop and support youth work focused in the parishes and other structures of the diocese that will enable young Catholics and other young people to grow towards human and Christian maturity.

OBJECTIVES IN SUPPORTING THESE AIMS

At parish level
To assist parishes to identify, prioritise and respond appropriately to the needs of those between the ages of 14-25 years
To recruit, train and support suitable persons voluntary or paid to work with young people
To make spiritual and educational provision for young people related to their needs that will promote their human and Christian growth.
At other levels

·          To provide at diocesan and deanery level a range of opportunities for young people that will enhance and complement the parish provision.

·          To build and maintain relationships with High Schools, Colleges and other agencies working on behalf of young people, especially through ecumenical links.
