The Prince’s Trust is a UK-wide charity helping young people to succeed

We target young people aged 14-30, who need us most.

We deliver training, set up young people in business and provide tailor-made opportunities for individuals and groups. Our 8,000 volunteers and staff run our programmes in partnership with others in the public, private and voluntary sectors.

We help raise self-esteem, change attitudes, develop skills and support young people into work. In particular, we target young people without jobs, with few or no qualifications, and those ‘at risk’.

Some Achievements

With over 26 years of experience, The Prince’s Trust is able to offer practical and sustained help.

Since 1990, 30,000 have participated in personal development programmes, which develops confidence, motivation and skills through teamwork in the community. 70% of unemployed participants on these programmes go on to jobs, further education or voluntary work.
Over 40,000 young people have set up businesses in the last 12 years with the help of The Prince’s Trust, creating over 60,000 jobs.  Approximately 60% are still trading 3 years later.
Last year we gave 5,000 development awards to young people, and funded over 1,500 projects and local training initiatives across the UK.

We could not achieve our work without the 8,000 volunteers and professional staff based in local communities throughout the UK.

The principal programmes which we run are:

XL - Working in schools throughout Lancashire

Volunteers - A 12 week personal development course

Business - Business support and start-up

Development Awards

Group Millennium Awards

Mentoring - in Blackburn, Burnley & Pendle
